This mid season strawberry is one of the best all-round varieties and has justifiably been a very popular choice amongst gardeners for a number of years. It produces heavy crops of large bright red glossy berries with an excellent sweet flavour. It crops especially well on light soils and in drier conditions.
Strawberries are best grown in a nice light sunny position in a moist yet well drained soil. They also do well in containers of multipurpose compost or growbags. They should also be fed regulary with a liquid feed suitable for fruit and vegetables.

Bred by the Scottish Crop Research Institute, Ben Tirran is a late flowering variety that is vigorous and has a compact growth habit. It produces consistently heavy crops of very late ripening currants – excellent for extending the season, it also ensures that this variety has good resistance to frost. The attractive glossy fruit has a rich tart flavour and is probably best used in preserves and pies although it can be eaten fresh when newly picked – it also freezes well.

This popular early variety is the first whitecurrant to crop in the season. A heavy cropping variety producing masses of large, shiny, soft pale yellow/white berries in long heavy trusses during mid-late summer. The fruit is deliciously sweet, not as acidic as redcurrant, so is great for eating fresh or using in a wide range of culinary purposes. White Versailles has a vigorous, upright bushy growth habit with attractive arching canes and serrated three lobed pale green leaves. A very reliable cropper year after year. Eventual height and spread: 1.5m (5ft). Self fertile
