Ceratostigma plumbaginoides, also known as hardy plumbago or blue leadwort, is a low-growing, spreading, woody perennial plant that is native to China.
Features:
- Ceratostigma plumbaginoides grows to 50 cm (20 in) tall and broad, and is a mat-forming herbaceous perennial with small ovoid leaves and bright blue flowers in late summer and early autumn. The leaves turn red or purple before falling.

Planting : When planting in the open ground it is best planted with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality Tree and Shrub Compost. If planting in a container then we recommend John Innes No3 Compost or a good quality Multipurpose compost with added John Innes. These plants should be fed in Spring and late Summer with a good quality granular fertiliser.
